Stuart, FL –
The City of Stuart will soon be replacing the downtown Riverwalk Decking along
the existing boardwalk around City Hall and Flagler Park. Construction on the boardwalk will begin on July
24th, 2019. All replacement
and repairs are to be completed in phases with all work anticipated to be finalized
by the middle of November, 2019.
Brother’s Construction, Inc. was awarded the contract work by the City for a project total cost of $523,060. The scope of work includes removal and replacement of the 8’ wide pedestrian boardwalk and fixed pier decking along the St. Lucie River, immediately adjacent to City Hall. All 2” x 6” decking and 4” x 4” side rails are made from IPE (pronounced ee-pay). IPE lumber is extremely resistant to attack by decay fungus and insects, and is very durable, low-maintenance commonly seen with a lifespan of up to 75 years.
Special consideration for special events occurring on the festival deck near City Hall has also been incorporated into the workflow schedule. As a result, replacement and repair work on the festival deck will occur on weekdays, providing for the stage area to be utilized for special events on weekends.
