Water Treatment Facility
The City's Water Treatment Facility is a six million gallon per day lime softening facility with the Surficial Aquifer as the source of supply via twenty-four production wells. All raw water is pumped to four air-stripping towers designed to remove dichloroethylene and trichloroethylene from the raw water before it enters three lime softening units where lime, polymer and ammonia is added. Once the water has passed through the softening units chlorine is added prior to filtration via six single media type gravity filters. All finished water passes though the filters into two clearwells for additional chemical contact time. Fluoride is added to the water as it is pumped from the clearwells to three one-million gallon ground storage tanks.
A series of high service pumps deliver the water from the storage tanks to the water distribution system.
