All development plans are reviewed to assure conformity with these two guiding documents. Plans for single family residences, commercial structures, accessory buildings, additions, fences, screen enclosures, pool and multi-family residences are reviewed for compliance with current building codes and zoning restrictions. Plan reviewers coordinate activities with Martin County to be sure health regulations are met.
Assistance is available at the department's front counter or over the telephone to answer questions about zoning or the Comprehensive Plan and to submit site plans and subdivision plans for technical review. Applications for Future Land Use Map Amendments, Annexations, Special Exceptions and Zoning Changes are also submitted to this department for consideration by the City's Planning Department. Variance applications are considered by the Board of Adjustment.
